Building the Future: Investing in Murrieta’s Schools and Students

As a parent and a candidate for the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Board, my focus is always on one question: What do our kids need to succeed?

While student achievement and teacher support are at the heart of education, we cannot overlook the environment where that learning happens. The physical buildings, the technology in the classrooms, and the safety of our campuses are the foundation of a high-quality education.

This year, we have a unique and vital opportunity to strengthen that foundation.

A Smart Investment: The General Obligation (GO) Bond

The Board has the opportunity to approve a General Obligation (GO) bond to be presented to Murrieta voters this November. I am a strong advocate for this measure because it is a common-sense approach to school funding.

Rather than creating a brand-new tax burden, this measure extends a current bond measure. It allows us to secure nearly $400 million dollars for our schools by maintaining the investment our community is already making.

Why This Matters Now

Our district is growing, and our existing facilities are aging. If approved by the voters, this funding will be used for:

·         Health and Safety: Repairing leaky roofs, failing plumbing, and outdated electrical systems.

·         Modernizing Science & Tech: Upgrading STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) labs and career-training facilities to ensure students are competitive for college and modern careers.

·         Overcrowding: Constructing new classrooms to keep pace with Murrieta's residential growth. Murrieta is projected to grow by 6,000-7,000 residents in the next five years.

·         Technology Infrastructure: Expanding high-speed internet and classroom tech, continuing the work started by the previous Measure BB (the $98 million bond passed in 2014).My Commitment to Murrieta Valley

The Community is Ready

We aren't just guessing that this is the right move, the data shows that Murrieta residents agree. In a recent survey conducted by the school district, 63% to 73% of residents expressed approval for this GO bond. While the measure only requires 55% to pass, seeing such overwhelming support (nearly 3 out of 4 neighbors) shows that our community understands the value of our schools. We know that strong schools lead to a stronger local economy and better property values (projected to increase 2%-4% annually through 2030), but most importantly, they provide a better future for our children.

My Commitment to You

As a School Board member, I will vote to support this bond, and ensure these funds are managed with total transparency and fiscal responsibility. Every dollar must be used effectively to benefit the students and the taxpayers.

Our schools are the heart of Murrieta. Let’s work together to ensure they remain places where every child can thrive.
